Bridgeman St was the longest street in Bolton, before the building of the railway station at Trinity St.
In 1838 it ran in a continuous line from near Tanners Hole in the west to Bradford Bridge in the east
The latter end from Manchester Rd is now named Lower Bridgeman St and Bridgeman Place connects it's lower end with Trinity St.
It's name comes from one of the Lords of the Manor of Great Bolton
The Manor and estates were purchased from Sir Ralph Assheton by John Bridgeman, Bishop of Chester, in which diocese Bolton then was in 1629, and the Bishop resided partly at Great Lever Hall, which he rebuilt.
1884 September 27, Bridgeman Street bridge was demolished to make way for railway improvements
